Counselling

About Chris

I have a Bachelor in Counselling, a Diploma in Social Work and am an active Member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC)  I am a qualified and experienced counsellor, mother and grandmother, who can support you to –

  • deal with the past by gently exploring old experiences which have negatively impacted on your life.  This might include family relationships, domestic violence, past sexual and physical abuse.
  • cope with the present by looking at current behaviours, relationships, stress factors at work or home, both of us working together to find ways of bringing balance to your life
  • plan for a rewarding future by identifying achievable goals and exploring how to move forward with confidence.

In my work, I draw on different techniques and tools depending on the issues brought to the counselling room.  For example I might use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help reduce anxiety; Transactional Analysis (TA) to assist in relationship building; Family Systems and Narrative Therapy to look at how we have developed into the people we are now; or Solution Focussed Therapy to explore new goals for a positive future.

My aim is to make a positive difference in people's lives
Years of life experience, motherhood and working for different organisations led me to want to make a positive difference in other people's lives as well as my own.  I now enjoy a life balance I have never known before.
